2023: Jenny decided to reduce her business travel and focused on enhancing her local reach. To this end, she obtained the highest court interpreting license in Texas and earned certification to interpret remotely in the state courts of California and Oklahoma.
2021: Jenny expanded her services to include remote interpreting, working on events such as graduate ceremonies for institutions like the University of Rochester.
2020: Jenny was accepted into the Advanced-Entry Conference Interpreting program at the Monterey Institute of International Studies, the leading institution for Chinese interpreters in the United States. She began her journey to complete her master’s degree in conference interpreting.
2019: Jenny began interpreting at major tech conferences, including South by Southwest and eventually AWS.
2018: In addition to court interpreting, Jenny started working with local corporations, including interpreting for meetings at Chuck E. Cheese.
2017: Jenny quickly qualified to interpret for the Immigration Court nationwide. She also passed the Texas court interpreter exam and joined the ranks of travel interpreters, spending much of her time interpreting for courts outside of Dallas.
2016: After returning to Dallas, Texas for family reasons, Jenny found a niche market for high-quality Mandarin Chinese interpretation needs in the US. She decided to continue pursuing her passion in the interpretation rather than returning to her previous work in finance.
2015: Jenny began studying conference interpretation at Shanghai International Studies University, an UN-EN program renowned for its rigorous training.
Late 2013: Following a mentor’s advice, Jenny transitioned into interpreting by working as an executive assistant at Sunshine Insurance, then the sixth-largest insurance carrier in China. Leveraging her background in risk management and insurance, Jenny interpreted executive meetings and translated high-stake M&A contracts. She also launched the company’s first English-language website.
2012: Jenny moved to China and joined Transn, the largest language agency in China at the time. As a full-time translator and editor, she thoroughly enjoyed her work. Her clients include the largest TV networks in China, CCTV and BTV, Air China, Haier Appliances, among others.
2011: After several years in finance and insurance, Jenny sold her assets and embarked on a global travel adventure.
